Why Homeschool

It wasn't an easy decision especially as a mother who's her husband is working overseas. The persuasion and explanation to convince my husband to try to homeschool our daughter took a long way before I had his YES.

My name is Liz. I belong to a Filipino family who is homeschooling her own child.

Why I chose homeschool?

As a parent I want the best for my child. Homeschool is far better that the conventional school for these reasons: (of course there are more reasons, but I will only share what are obvious)

My child is less stressed. Her K-2 from a conventional school was a bit stressful for her and me. She needed to be at school before 7:30 in the morning. Not only she gets to wake up early in the morning but also during the times when the weather was bad and still needs her to go to school. After school, she needs to study her lessons at home, less time for her nap time and playtime which every child her age should not miss.

My child will have a mastery of each lesson. At homeschool she doesn't need to study addition in only within 3 days then include it in the periodical exam after that. Does 3 days really enough to teach addition? From now on, she will not move to any other lessons until she fully understands and mastered her lesson. In homeschool there is delayed and too advanced when it comes to learning. We will go along based on my child's pace.

Build her character. This is the most important. As a parent, I would be able to eliminate those that she doesn't need. Peers that will damaged her and beliefs that will confuse her. It is important that she will be equipped with proper values and mind set that will help her face things in a real life situation. For me, it is not how fast she grasps her lessons, how well she is in computation and history, but how she will handle her life in a manner that will not compromise her beliefs and values as a human being.

Homeschooling can be very challenging. Discipline, determination, and my love for her are my key ingredients to continuously explore homeschool.
